IMMEDIATE OPENING -- OPERATIONS MANAGER

The Museum of Jewish Heritage seeks an operations manager to manage the
security, building maintenance, engineering and guest services functions and to
oversee the day-to-day operations of a major new museum in Manhattan.  In this
capacity, the operations manager:

o  Assumes responsibility for the safety and security of the facilities,
collections, staff and visitors in a complex environment.  Establishes safety
and security policies and procedures, emergency response systems and disaster
plans, and ensures compliance.  Participates in contract negotiations with
security services provider and manages security contract on behalf of the
Museum.  Serves as liaison between the Museum and local, state and federal
protective services entities.

o  Leads the development of building operations standards, policies and
procedures and ensures compliance; manages building engineering and maintenance
staff in a union environment; manages contract janitorial staff.

o  Assumes responsibility for ensuring a quality visit experience for all
vistiors.  Manages guest services functions, including information desk, coat
check and crowd management.  Responsible for training and supervising a staff of
paid and volunteer service providers.  Coordinates all activities on the floor
of the Museum during public hours.

o  Participates in the development of policies governing museum admissions and
manages the box office operation.  Serves as liaison between the Museum and the
ticket services provider.

o  Hires, trains and motivates a diverse staff of paid and unpaid, union and
non-union employees.  Manages multiple project and operating budgets.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of seven years experience in
operations management of a public facility, preferably a museum.  Must have
managment experience in two or more of the following:  security; building
maintenance and engineering; facilities management; guest services.  In
addition, must demonstrate:  the ability to manage a start-up operation;
excellent people management skills; a commitment to quality service practices.
Position reports to the Museum Director and the Chief Financial Officer.  Salary
commensurate with experience.  The Museum of Jewish Heritage is an equal
