We are looking forward to January when Jim Blackaby will be
teaching the following immersion course here in Victoria for
museum and heritage professionals. Please let me know if you'd

INFORMATION MANAGEMENT IN HERITAGE ORGANIZATIONS
"Information is a fundamental resource in museums, galleries,
historic sites and other heritage organizations, and it must be
managed in a coordinated and responsible manner. This new
immersion course explores the role and benefits of effective,
integrated information management and focuses on ways in
which heritage organizations can analyze their needs and
develop computer-based systems that will serve them in the
future. Course topics include:
 
o analyzing information management objectives and needs in
a variety of functional areas, including collections documentation,
research, financial and human resource management, programming,
marketing and fundraising, and membership and volunteer coordination;
o the steps involved in planning and designing integrated systems
o resources and networks to support information management
o information management trends and developing technologies
o ethical and management issues
