The Shaker Museum at South Union is accepting applications for the position
of Director of Education.  The Shaker Museum, established in 1971 at the
historic site of the South Union Shaker Village (1807-1922), is at an
exciting stage of growth and development and is dedicated to quality
preservation and interpretation and innovative educational programming.
The qualified candidate should have a BA in history, museum studies or
related field (museum experience or MA preferred) and will be responsible
for coordinating all educational programs, demonstrations, workshops, group
tours, and the educational aspects of museum events and exhibits,
developing special programs for school-age and adult groups, giving
presentations on and off-site, preparing articles for newsletter,
coordinating intern program with Western Kentucky University and writing
grants pertaining to programs.  Ideal candidate should exhibit enthusiasm,
creativity, oral and written communication skills, computer skills, ability
to work with others.
