It's very gratifying to read praises for the University of Leicester
Museum Studies Program, and for myself (I hope I can live up to them
and I know that all our staff are equally committed).

It may be worth mentioning that we have restructured the program.
The materials are the same (but updated), the standards are the
same, the expectations in terms of levels of achievement are the same
and the required level of commitment is the same.

While the number of learning hours remains the same, the way they
are distributed is different. Previously, the program was structured
through 6 modules of 20 credits. Each module requiring 150 hours
study over 10 weeks (15/week). Now, there are 4 modules of 30
credits. Each module requiring 225 hours over 16 weeks (14-15/week).
This takes 18 months and gains the Museum Studies Diploma. Up to 6
months is then allowed for the production of a dissertation which gains
the Masters Degree (MA/MSc).

This restructuring is led, in part, by our need to conform with general
University practice, and also the fact that we have been requiring
students, perhaps unfairly, to spread their studies over 2.5 years while
it is perfectly reasonable and usual to complete a part-time Masters
Degree over 2 years.

I hope people find this further information useful (I'm trying to avoid
pushing the Leicester Program - advertising), but all the necessary
information is available on our website:
http://www.le.ac.uk/ms/study/museumstudies(dl).html

I'm happy to declare that I have a direct interest:
