Center on Contemporary Art
proudly presents the 2002 Northwest Annual
call for entries

From June 1 through July 13 CoCA presents the 2002 Northwest Annual; a
juried exhibition now in it's thirteenth year. The Northwest Annual is open
to professional artists residing in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and
Alaska. The Northwest Annual is an opportunity for artists to gain regional
exposure and a vital showcase for experimental work and emerging talent.
CoCA is accepting submissions for the following media: painting, sculpture,
photography, mixed media, works on paper, and video.

THE JUROR

The juror for the 2002 Northwest Annual is Linda Farris. A resident of
Seattle, Farris is the Founder and Curator of the ContemporaryArtProject
(CAP). Founded in 1999; CAP is a Seattle based group dedicated to building a
collection of cutting-edge international contemporary art to be gifted to
Northwest museums. This provocative collection was shown at CoCA in
September 2000. For more information on CAP please visit the website at
www.contemporaryartproject.com.

Both CAP and Farris' own collection reflect her impressive knowledge of
contemporary art, her keen eye, and her well honed instincts. Prior to CAP
Farris established herself as one of the most significant forces in the
development of the art scene in Seattle. For 25 years she owned and managed
the now legendary Linda Farris Gallery. The gallery represented a vital
group of Northwest artists as well as internationally acclaimed artists
including Italo Scanga, Alexander Bodsky and Ilya Utkin, Grisha Bruska, Judy
Pfaff, and Nicholas Africano. CAP and Farris' personal collection have
recieved national attention from museums, artists, and collectors, and
Farris has been honored by the Seattle Art Dealers Association and Safeco
for her contributions to the city's artistic life.
