If your museum has been contacted by the Center for Excellence (COE) in
Rockville, Maryland, about the IMLS Technology & Digitization Survey, please
respond quickly! COE is conducting the survey for IMLS (the Institute of
Museum and Library Services). They're in the process of contacting a
randomly selected group of 1,950 museums and 1,200 libraries across the
country. IMLS is hoping for a good response rate to the survey.

The survey will gather information about the status of technology and
digitization activities in museums and libraries. The information collected
will be used to achieve a better understanding of the current use of
technology by museums and libraries to provide public access to information,
their activities, funding sources, and future needs. The research will help
IMLS to be positioned effectively to meet future needs of museums and
libraries to provide information to the public using current and next
generation technologies.

The results of the survey will be published some time this summer. As soon
as the report is available, that information will be available on the IMLS
Web site at: www.imls.gov.
