Hello all

Below is an advertisement for the position of Registrar at Rotorua

suitably qualified professionals.

Application details are noted on the advertisement but we will be happy
to answer any general queries directly.

Sorry for the clumsy format but the list wouldn't accept the ad as an

REGISTRAR

Rotorua Museum of Art and History is seeking an outstanding collections
management professional for this key position in our Collections and
Programmes department.

Rotorua Museum is a recognised leader in the New Zealand museum sector,
is a three-time winner of the Best Heritage Attraction category at the
New Zealand Tourism Awards, and was the recipient of the prestigious
Distinction Award in 2003.

The museum is located in the historic Bathhouse building in Government
Gardens. A major programme of building development and restoration is
underway, and will culminate in the completion of the building for its

facility with excellent work places and environmental conditions.

The successful applicant will possess a tertiary qualification in a
museum-related discipline and will also hold a postgraduate Museum
Studies qualification, or be studying towards one. Previous experience
in a collections management role in a museum or art gallery is
essential.

Duties will include maintenance of the collection database (a thorough
knowledge of Vernon software is desirable), inventory control of the
collection, accessioning and cataloguing, loans in/out, condition
reporting, co-ordination of the digital photographic database, physical
care of the collection, preventive conservation, and all other aspects
of collection management.

This is a rare opportunity for a talented individual to make his or her
mark in a high profile museum with potential for continued professional
development. The Rotorua region is New Zealand's premier visitor
destination and offers a unique quality of life with outstanding
recreational opportunities.
