I still enjoy the comment made to me by a younger visitor about 15 years ago:

"Why do you take dead animals and starch them?"

It may not be hilarious but it does reflect a different way of looking at our natural history exhibits.

On the other hand, our history exhibits received the following comment:

"What's with all the old sh**?"

A constant comment after our tour guides introduce the Columbus ships as replicas or full-sized models of the original ships:

"Wow, so these are the real ships."

And finally, a conversation overhead between two family members:

"Hurry up, why are you so slow?"

"I'm reading the labels."

"What for? Only dummies read labels!"
