My understanding is that RFID,(radio frequency identification) is superior
and more versatile than bar-coding. You may want to find someone who has
investigated both methods for collections, to add to your panel discussion.

Subject: Panelist Needed on Bar Coding for SEMC meeting

To all,

I am chairing a panel session at the SEMC meeting at Jekyll Island on
October 4-8. The session is titled "Is bar coding right for your
collections in a small to mid-sized institution?". I am in need of a third
panelist that is willing and able to come to the meeting. Preferably, I
would like someone who has either seriously considered or installed a bar
code system and can discuss some of the pros and cons of a bar code system.

If you are interested, please contact me at [log in to unmask] for more
information.

If you are unable to come to the meeting, but have considered, installed, or

are using bar codes, I would also invite your comments on the pros and cons
of a bar code system for your collection(s).

Thanks,

Susan
