 The Colburn Gem & Mineral Museum, Asheville, NC is seeking a dynamic and
energetic individual to manage all museum functions. . The executive
director is responsible for the management of the collections and five full-
time employees, financial and strategic planning, museum operations,
program development and outreach to the local community. The museum
maintains a strong educational program for local schools and individuals.
The Colburn Museum is located in Pack Place, an educational science and art
facility in the heart of Asheville. Please visit the website at

Asheville is a progressive city located in the beautiful Blue Ridge
Mountains of Western North Carolina and is the business, cultural and
medical center of the region. The city is a tourist destination for the
Southeastern US and, as such, has the cultural, entertainment and
recreational resources of many larger cities.

Qualifications for the job include a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the
natural science field (mineralogy, geology, other earth sciences), business
administration or museum studies. The successful candidate will demonstrate
proven communication skills, successful grant writing, fund raising efforts
and experience in financial and personnel management. Museum or other non-
profit experience a plus. Salary commensurate with experience and
