Position Title: Museum Teacher Program Coordinator
Department:             Education
Reports to:             Curator of Education

Scope of Position:
The Museum Teacher Program Coordinator reports to the Curator of Education
and is responsible for all aspects of managing the Museum Teacher program
including training Museum Teachers (docents) to lead adult, senior, and
student tours and all related programs.

Responsibilities include:
*       Supervising and managing Museum Teachers.

*       Developing and implementing introductory training and ongoing
professional development for Museum Teachers that result in improved
understanding of the Museum's collections and teaching strategies for
working effectively with student, adult and senior groups.

*       Assuring excellence in gallery teaching for all tour programs, with
an emphasis on age-appropriate, inquiry-based, interactive teaching.

*       Recruiting new Museum Teachers as necessary.

*       Working with the Tour Manager to help facilitate Museum Teacher
scheduling for all student, adult and senior tours.

*       Collaborating with Membership to develop joint training sessions for
Museum Teachers
        and Information Desk volunteers as appropriate.

*       Managing training for and scheduling of the Museum's free gallery
tours and talks.

*       Developing and implementing effective evaluation strategies for all
Museum Teachers and volunteers who teach in the galleries.

*       Collaborating with Security, Membership and Marketing (and other
departments, as appropriate) to guarantee excellence for all groups visiting
the Museum.

Requirements:
*       BA in Art History or Museum Education required (MA preferred).
*       Minimum of two years experience managing a museum tour program.
*       Demonstrated ability in museum teaching as well as teacher training
experience.
*       Strong interactive teaching skills and knowledge of educational
theory.
*       Excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
*       Dedication to customer service.
*       Strong team-building spirit.
*       Computer proficiency (WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Filemaker Pro,
and Excel).
