Sabrina,

I wrote a pretty comprehensive reply to an identical query a couple of
years ago. If you search the Musuem-L archives it should be there
under the subject "cotton" gloves.

Those dots are either rubber (contains sulphur) or vinyl (contains
polyvinyl chloride) and most people have seen them leave transfer
marks on glass and ceramics and tarnish and corrosion on silver,
brass, and iron.

The test for any glove, even those white cotton ones, is to have a
really well cleaned piece of glass, wipe the glove on it, if anything
transfers then the glove either has residues from washing or use, or
is leaving residues from itself on the glass.
