JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Collections Manager/Registrar.
 The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center is looking for a
Collections Manager/Registrar to oversee the documentation, storage and
handling of its Native American collections, which focus on native peoples
of the eastern portion of  North America.  The collections include
Archaeological, Ethnographic and Contemporary art.  We are seeking a person
experienced in collection documentation, preservation, loans and shipping
and receiving.  The applicant should be familiar with all current
registration, collection inventory, database management and internal control
procedures, as well as an awareness of  current issues of importance to the
Native American community and traditional care practices. Knowledge of
Microsoft Access, The Gallery Systems database and Northeastern material
culture/history is helpful.  Minimum of a Masters degree in Native American
studies, Anthropology, Art History or Museum Studies and  five years
experience in the field.  The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center
,a 308,000 square-foot facility, traces the history and culture of the
Mashantucket Pequot tribal nation from 10,000 years ago to the present.
