Hi Everyone,

I was hoping someone has a similar problem or could point me in the right direction for research or sources.

We have two historic houses that have old reproduction mullioned casement windows that consists of small (4 or 5 inch) diamond panes held together with some kind of caulking material that is beginning to break down. The frames are beginning to leak water as well. Does anyone know about how often these windows should be repaired or replaced? Or do you know what type of caulking should replace the old kind? They are supposed to look like 16th century windows with lead calmes/cames but I think the person/firm who made these used a white caulking with some sort of gray stripping over top of the seams.

One of the houses used to have plexi covers on the exterior, mounted to the frames but they were recently removed. This is when we noticed the leaks. The other house has some sort of thin plastic with specially built mount/frames that are attached to the window.

Does anyone know of a firm that specializes in reproduction windows for 18th century historic houses?

Thanks for your help.
