Hi - the Canadian Museums Association can be reached at:

Your student should get in touch with Dianna Thompson, Head Professional
Development and Standards, for advice on training opportunities across Canada.
She can provide you with a booklet called "Museum Studies Programs in
Canada" that describes the wide range of academic and professional
development programs offered by universities, colleges and professional
associations across the country.

We have a number of agencies involved in the articulation of training
standards, policies and strategies. The Canadian Museums Human Resource
Planning Committee is playing a leadership role in identifying the human
resource development needs of museums and linking these to competency
standards and training strategies. As well, the Cultural Human Resources
Council takes a broader approach to research and support for training across
the cultural sector. Since Dianna is actively involved in both, she is an
excellent contact for your student.

Best wishes,

Joy Davis, Program Director
