The following is from the CARR-L (Computer-Assisted Reporting and
Research) and is from an on-going thread on teaching CAR in J-School.
I know MCN is pondering the question of how to teach computer skills
in museum studies programs and I've logged unpaid time teaching classmates
because the NYU program doesn't. Has any other program done something
like this?

>Maybe we need to think about education and learning differently. What
>about students learning about computer assisted reporting from each other
>via a listserver like this one? The prerequisite for entering the on-line
>classroom would be having the wherewithal to find the listserver and
>subscribe to it.

>We could have CAR "experts" come to the on-line classroom to make
>presentations and answer questions from students.
