Job Description
IMAX Theater Chief Projectionist

The Tech Museum of Innovation is an educational resource established to
engage people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and experiencing
technologies affecting their lives and to inspire the young to become
innovators in the technologies of the future.

The Tech Museum of Innovation needs an IMAX Theater Chief Projectionist to
supervise and operate our state-of-the-art IMAX Motion Picture Projection
System. The Chief Projectionist is a full-time, exempt position reporting
to the Director of Visitor Services.

Responsibilities:
-Responsible for the operation of the IMAX projection equipment including:
loading and unloading film into projector, loading and unloading sound
track into audience reproducer (analog and digital), consistently
monitoring quality of projected image, constantly monitoring quality of
sound reproduction, and cleaning and general maintenance of projection and
sound system.
-Hiring, training, supervising, scheduling and evaluating the
projectionists, console operators an other theater staff.
-Responsible for general housekeeping, cleanliness of projection,
mechanical and storage rooms.
-Responsible for quality control including: ensuring that all film prints
and sound tracks are maintained in the best possible manner; and storing
unused film prints and sound tracks according to IMAX Customer Support
specifications to prevent damage or decrease in life of the print.
-Responsible for assembling new film prints.
-Responsible for the shipping and receiving of film prints and sounctracks.
-Responsible for developing and implementing the timing and cueing between
the projection room and the hosting staff to ensure continuity and maximize
the showmanship aspects of a theater pesentation.
-Implement preventative maintence program for IMAX projection equipment and
facility. Assist IMAXâ and SONICS service personnel with the quarterly
service routines. Handle minor servicing problems.
-Procure and maintain an inventory of IMAXâ projection system parts and
other miscellaneous parts and supplies for projection rooms.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
-5+ years of experience with theater operations, supervision and/or
maintenance.
-2+ years of experience with IMAX motion picture projection system.
-Excellent organizational skills.
-Commitment to quality and customer service.
-Willingness to work on weekends and holidays.
