The John and Mable Ringling Museum of ArtSummer Graduate Internship
2006Florida State UniversitySarasota, Florida We are pleased to announce
the Summer Graduate Internships for 2006 at The John and Mable Ringling
Museum of Art located in Sarasota, Florida. This internship provides a
high quality, practical work experience for graduate students interested
in a career in the museum field. The Ringling Museum complex is
comprised of three museums on a 66-acre estate located on Sarasota Bay
and includes an internationally recognized art collection, the Ringling
mansion, Ca`d'Zan, and the Circus Museum/Tibbals Learning Center. The
Historic Asolo Theater is also located on the grounds. Over $50 million
in new construction has begun for an expansion of the circus museum, a
visitor's pavilion, new art galleries, education center and library,
and landscape improvements. The 2006 internships will begin on June 5,
2006 and end on August 4, 2006. During this nine-week period a total
stipend of $3,600 will be paid in bi-weekly installments. The Museum
will assist the interns in obtaining housing, if requested. The cost of
housing and meals will be the responsibility of the intern. Each intern
will be assigned to a specific area of museum operations based on their
choice of an internship indicated on his or her application.
Approximately half the experience will focus on a pre-determined project
that will add value to the Museum, and be an invaluable tool for a
future career in the museum field. The remaining half will be spent
assisting in the normal operations of that area, including daily tasks.
Selected candidates will be notified by mail on February 27, 2006.
Students interested should complete the application form, which can be
downloaded from: www.ringling.org. Go to "Employment
Opportunities," Internships at Ringling. All applications must be
received by February 3, 2006 and mailed to: Bob HyndsIntern
