I agree.

I think you also need to take into account whether or
not the ED is responsible for a major capital
campaign, or other growth initiative. I don't find
Nicholas' ranges unusual at all, but then I live in a
Chicago suburb. Personally I wouldn't touch an ED job
for under the range he states, especially if that kind
of growth was expected.

Also, the area in which you're working makes such a
difference. Because there are department director jobs
in the city of Chicago that make salaries in this
range, an ED job around here needs to be competitive
with that as well.
