This is essentially a marketing query.

I'm looking for information on printed museum guides - those brochures or
booklets that tell you what's where, and whet your appetite for the
exhibitions and other attractions a museum has to offer.

I'd like to gather the following sales and marketing information:

- what sort of guides work best (content, approach, other features,
production values)
- what proportion of visitors buy it (or pick it up, in the case of
not- for- sale items)
- retail price
- what other material is available (e.g. map, audio guide, book)
- where sold (e.g. orientation lobby)
- and some background information (e.g. what kind of institution/annual
visitation/ entry fee or not)
- any other observations

If anyone is aware of any survey information across more than one institution
and can give me a reference, I'd be very grateful.

Please reply off-list, if you prefer.

Many thanks, in advance, for your help
