For several years the University of Missouri at St. Louis has presented a
symposium titled "What is a City." The program addresses a wide variety of
approaches to this topic. In the past the symposium has taken the form of a
two-day forum with papers and discussion groups making presentations to
those in attendance.

Next year the What is a City symposium is involving the visual arts.
Gallery 210, the university's contemporary art gallery, is to organize and
exhibition in support of this annual program.

Now that the exhibition is official I am seeking artists whose work
addresses the symposium's subject matter. Media and approach are not
limited in any way.
