The Mariners' Museum in Newport News, VA  seeks a dynamic and team oriented
professional for the position of director, corporate and foundation
relations.  This position reports to the vice president of development and
is responsible for directing and managing the Museum's efforts to secure
funding from corporations and foundations for annual giving, exhibitions,
education programs, and special projects.  In addition, oversees the
research of current and potential donors, manages cultivation and
solicitation of new and renewing donors, supervises appropriate
acknowledgment of funding and works closely with the marketing department on
corporate sponsorships, including in-kind partnerships to ensure an
integrated strategy of corporate involvement.  The successful candidate will
have a bachelor's degree in history, business, or English, with an advanced
degree preferred and five years' experience with a demonstrated track record
of success in corporate fundraising, or an equivalent combination of
education and experience. Additionally, knowledge and demonstrated expertise
in use of donor prospecting techniques and research sources, as well as
knowledge of national and regional corporate and foundation donors required.
 The successful candidate will also have direct solicitation experience and
understanding of marketing and corporate marketing strategies. Skills in
establishing and maintaining effective internal and external working
relationships, including superior writing ability mandatory. Experience
matching museum exhibition, education, and community outreach gift
opportunities with appropriate national and regional foundation sources
