I am the Executive Director of a new museum, due to open July 98, the
Pacific Tsunami Museum (formerly known as the Hilo Tsunami Museum; name
changed just last week to clarify the scope of the museum and its
programs) located in Hilo, Hawaii. We are looking for myths, legends and
contemporary lore about tsunami to include in our interpretation. Our
exhibits will interpret the cultural, social and economic impacts of
tsunami throughout the Pacific. (Other oceans will be covered but not to
the extent of the Pacific because tsunami tend to occur primarily in the
