Deb Fuller mentioned that she would like to see an exhibit along the lines
of the _Motel of the Mysteries_ book (which a lot of people still don't
know about, somehow).  There was an exhibit shown at the Johnson Museum on
the Cornell campus in the early 80s which  followed a similar path.  The
premise was the discovery of a New York City dumpster (I think) at some
point in the future.  The exhibit  interpreted the trash as various types
of ritual objects and even included a display case at the end with "museum
shop" items -- necklaces made from pop top rings, etc.  I think it was a
traveling exhibition -- or perhaps the Johnson put it together.

And I'll offer another vote for the "Nacirema" article which I read as an
anthropology student.
