I would appreciate if someone can direct me to a good resource to find out more about artists from the 1930s.

I have a framed drawing (or print) that has a penciled signature, but it's very difficult to read - the first name seems to begin with C or G, and last name begins with M, N or even W. My first impression is something like Cione Misonary. It is dated 1930. It seems to be pencil or fine charcoal drawing/print. I'm not ready to open the backing as it's in an interesting 1930s stylish, but simple frame, but will do if I don't get an idea who the artist is. It may just be a local/amateur artist.

Where would be a good resource to find out more about 1930s artists? Any good databases on the Internet for list of artists?
