The Prescott Historical Society's Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott, Arizona
is seeking an Assistant Archivist.  Under general supervision the assistant
archivist will perform beginning level archival work in the acquisition,
classification, preservation, organization, and accessibility to the public
of historical documents, manuscripts, photographs and other records of
permanent value.  She/he will be familiar with archival theory, principals,
practices, and procedures.  She/he will be responsible for providing
accurate, timely reference and research information to patrons and will be
responsible for the creation of inventories and other finding aids and
assist in special projects as needed. Starting salary in the low 20Ks plus
generous state benefits.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in history or one of the
social sciences; or two years of experience equivalent to a curatorial
aide, which includes handling archival material.

The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in history or library
science (with an emphasis in archives management) and be familiar with
research techniques, archival techniques, and be knowledgeable of common PC
software programs.
