Bill:

While this article mentions time and again the US military's lack of
effort to protect Iraqi cultural institutions, there is no evidence of
"support" for looters and no information pointing directly at the US
government's involvement in looting - beyond individual rogues.  Also,
there is no mention of the fighting that continued during the time the
Iraqis (and others) were conducting their looting.

So, should the troops have protected these institutions rather than
quell fighting throughout Baghdad?  Do we truly expect militaries to
risk troops for antiquities before ensuring combat is ended?
