Applications are still being accepted for the annual Victorian Society
in America Summer Schools, hosted in Newport, Rhode Island and London,
with excursions to outlying cities. Both programs address
architecture, art, and social history, with lectures by
internationally respected experts and visits to important public and
private sites. The Newport course (June 1-10, 2012) is directed by one
of America’s most celebrated architectural historians, Richard Guy
Wilson. The Summer School is based at the campus of Salve Regina
University, and takes full advantage of Newport’s rich cultural
heritage, from the 17th- to early 20th centuries. The London course
(June 31 – July 15) is directed by Ian Cox, focuses on 19th-century
London, Oxford and Liverpool. A highlight of the program is a five-day
tour of the Midlands and the North of England led by Gavin Stamp.
Course fees are $2,300 and $4,500 respectively. Generous scholarship
assistance is available. Museum professionals, academics, related
professionals, and enthusiasts are encouraged to apply.

Course and scholarship application forms, and additional information
are available at www.victoriansociety.org. Application deadline:
March 1st, 2012.
