The Historic House Trust (HHT) of New York City was founded in 1989 as a 
private partner to the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation for 
the preservation and promotion of historic house sites owned by New York 
City and located in public parks. HHT’s collection includes 22 historic 
sites located throughout the five boroughs.  Through this newly created 
position, HHT strengthens its commitment to quality education programming at 
its member sites.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Work in conjunction with individual sites city-wide to improve education 
programs by:
- Coordinating professional training workshops;
- Strengthening connections to the New York City public school curriculum;
- Advising on the development of new on-site interpretive programs;
- Editing education brochures and materials;
- Promoting school and public programs to the NYC Department of Education 
and local communities;
- Assisting individual houses with the design, implementation and evaluation 
of interpretive plans;
- Seeking collaborative partners and projects with local cultural and 
business institutions, colleges and universities;
- Coordinating and setting agenda for bi-monthly roundtable meeting of HHT 
educators;
-  Helping prepare funding proposals.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate degree in museum studies, education, history or other related field 
with a minimum of 3 years professional experience. Coursework and/or 
demonstrated experience in a historic house or museum setting developing 
unique and successful education programs. Must be comfortable working with 
diverse audiences, have knowledge of current museum education practices, New 
York State Learning Standards, strong communication skills, and particularly 
excellent “people skills”. Must be a highly motivated team player with 
excellent multi-tasking abilities. Valid New York State driver’s license 
required .
