DEADLINE ALERT! Calling all Promising Practice Award Entries!

Applications for the 2002 Promising Practice Award must be postmarked by
Monday, February 11, 2002! The MetLife Foundation and Association of
Children's Museums Promising Practice Award rewards excellence and provides
recognition for innovative and creative practices in children's museums;
promotes management practices that support alternative and creative
programming; builds a body of knowledge of exemplary programs and practices;
and establishes models for the advancement of the children's museum field
at-large. This year's award will honor practices that illustrate the unique
and diverse ways in which children's museums advance some of the common
values we share as a field: to preserve childhood, to promote lifelong
learning through play, and to build community.

A total of $20,000 will be presented to selected museums on Thursday, June
6, 2002 at ACM's InterActivity 2002 in Ottawa-Hull, Canada.
The application is very short and easy to complete so we encourage everyone
to submit an entry! For an application please contact Sara Habich at
[log in to unmask] or call 202-898-1080. The application is also
available on the ACM Web site at www.childrensmuseums.org/awards.htm.

Looking forward to seeing you in Ottawa!
