For pottery collections you might want to check out the Museum of
Anthropology Koerner Gallery:

Dr. Carol Mayer, the curator, has published a book about the
collection (and other books on the subject) that might suit your
research. The title of the Koerner collection book is The Potter's
Art and it shows up in the World Catalogue as available from:

UNIV OF N CAROLINA, CHARLOTTE

ps.. WorldCat shows Nigerian Pottery at only 8 libraries of which a
couple are in the US.
