Subject: Furniture care leaflet, UKIC Furniture Section.

The Furniture Section of the United Kingdom
Institute for Conservation (UKIC) has just
published a leaflet on furniture care that will be of
equal interest to curators, collectors and
conservators alike.
The leaflet outlines the common causes of damage
to furniture such as light, climate and insect
infestation. It gives advice on the handling and
moving of furniture items. The section on cleaning
describes the materials to use including when and
how to wax furniture as well as the special attention
required for decorated furniture and metal fittings.
Copies of the leaflet may be purchased from the
UKIC office at
109 The Chandlery, 50 Westminster Bridge Road,
London SE1 7QY
