Description:    To manage and implement all communications strategies and
special events, helping to ensure the members of the Palo Alto Junior Museum
and Zoo are /1/ well informed about happenings at the JMZ, /2/ included in
special "member's only" events, and /3/ aware of the organization's various
fundraising needs.

Specific Job Responsibilities Include (but may not be limited to):


        Member Database

        Fundraising Solicitation Letters/Mailing (2x annually)

        Events
                Dads & Doughnuts (4x annually)
                Sneak Preview Parties (2x annually)

Media
        Press Releases
        Advertising
        Special Story Angles

Newsletter (quarterly)

Administration
        Reports for the Friends Board of Directors

Salary: $25,000 for 20 hours per week

About the JMZ:The Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo provides children with an
array of learning experiences - all on a kid's scale - to engage their
minds, increase their critical thinking skills, and help develop their
intuition so they can make better sense of the world around them.  Offerings
include interactive exhibits, a natural habitat Zoo and educational
programs.  The Junior Museum and Zoo is the City of Palo Alto's most visited
community services facility - with 150,000 guests annually.

About the Friends:The Friends of the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo is a
private, non-profit fundraising organization to support the Junior Museum
and Zoo's existing programs and future growth.  The Friends, and its
predecessor organization, the Associates, has been in existence for more
than 45 years.
