2005 SUMMER INTERNSHIPS IN SCIENCE

The Smithsonian Center for Materials Research and Education (SCMRE) and the
Smithsonian Office of Fellowships are pleased to announce summer internships
in materials science, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, conservation
science, mechanics, or related fields. SCMRE is an office of the Smithsonian
Institution engaged in scientific research contributing to preserving,
conserving, and understanding the materials of world cultural heritage and
natural history, with relevance to Smithsonian collections. Stipends are
available. 


Applicant Qualifications
							
The applicant may be an undergraduate or graduate student in the sciences,
with an interest in cultural property. 


Application Procedure

The prospective candidate should first contact the scientist with whom he
or she would like to work. If candidacy is determined to be suitable, the
applicant should send a letter presenting his or her interest in applying
for the internship along with a curriculum vitae that includes basic
biographical information, current and permanent addresses, telephone number,
and e-mail address
