We also find this the ideal solution for everyone involved. It avoids 
a special employee class for Interns.  Yes, we all understand that 
receiving "experience" is considered the "payment" but no matter what 
you believe intellectually, emotionally it's just not the same.  This 
is America after all.  The one exception we make is for interns who 
wish to receive school credit and are not permitted to except payment 
while doing so.

That said, we are quite conscious of the fact that even paid interns 
are, in fact, here for the experience and we are very careful to 
engage them in meaningful work.
