Dear folks:
I am looking to compile a list or works, essays, books, articles, even
lectures or papers -- that deal specifically with the origins of music.
This list should not be on just histories of early musical events, nor
on descriptions of ancient music or early instruments and their sounds.
Instead, the list needs to point toward any collective discussion,
however factual or speculative, of how music began and what shaped its
development or forced its advent in human life.
Thanks for any efforts or for noting any works you might know about. I
already have a fair list started, but do not want to overlook anything
important on the subject. Title and Author (and whether it's a book,
article, essay, etc.) are all that's needed, and date of first
publication would be useful.
Thanks,
Candace Norton
