I’m the museum registrar at Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park in northwest Arkansas. The day after the battle John C. Amberg walked around the battlefield and made a series of sketches of the battlefield which he later used to make a painting of the battlefield. Amberg gave the painting to Gilbert F. Wilson, a veteran of the battle, for use at a Decoration Day event at the G.A.R. post in Superior, WI. We are trying to track down this painting and I'm hoping someone out there might know something about it? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
