POSITION: COORDINATOR EXHIBITS GRAPHICS SERVICES- (1 Opening) Annual Salary:  $27,778.40-
                     $46,508.80: Bi-weekly: $1,145.32- $1,788.80- Parks & Neighborhoods/Museum J.O. #13-060 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the Manager of Exhibits to plan, design and construct permanent and temporary museum exhibits and displays.  Consults with supervisor and administrative staff to ascertain purpose, location, budget and time limitation of the exhibit projects.  Operates a CAD computer program to design exhibit components and draft isometric drawings of proposed exhibits including cases, platforms, scale models, and artifact/specimen mounts.  Constructs and installs exhibits applying basic carpentry skills and using hand and power tools.  Fabricates exhibit components from various products including wood, metal, glass, and plastics using machines, such as a lathe, drill press, and milling machine.  Devises and produces general mechanical and electrical components to animate educational exhibit units.  Monitors, repairs and maintains temporary and permanent exhibits, including the appearance and security of artifacts.  Prepares final drawings and diagrams according to job specifications.  Maintains work shop and tools.  Monitors and maintains inventory of materials and supplies. Coordinates mechanical repairs on exhibits with outside vendors.    

OTHER FUNCTIONS:    
            1. Participates in field excavation trips as assigned.
            2. Conducts seminars on fabrication in museum workshop as needed.
            3. Assists associate departments with mechanical troubleshooting.
            4. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing with management, staff, and the general public. Requires the ability to examine exhibits throughout the museum.  Requires standing, stooping, bending and reaching.  Must be able to lift, carry and handle tools, plastic sheets, wood products and other materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to operate an automobile, equipment and machinery essential to constructing exhibits.  Must be able to read architectural plans.  

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Majority of work is performed in a shop environment that is normally temperature controlled.  Must be able to travel to various facilities associated with the museum, such as Lichterman Nature Center and Coon Creek Science Center.  May be exposed to fumes, odors and hazardous chemicals. Must be available to work occasional nights and weekends.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:    High School diploma and five (5) years of experience in carpentry and other three-dimensional medias with three (3) of the five (5) years experience in designing and constructing museum exhibits; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.  Must be able to use a CAD computer program.  Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.  (PROOF OF DRIVER’S LICENSE REQUIRED)
