Docent & Tour Programs Manager Position Available
Delaware Art Museum Wilmington, Delaware

The Delaware Art Museum has an immediate opening for Docent and Tour
Programs Manager. This full-time position in the Education & Public Programs
Department involves the supervision and training of fifty volunteer docents
in Art History and tour skills. Additionally, the Docent and Tour Programs
Manager is responsible for interpreting the Museum’s permanent collection
and special exhibitions through the design, promotion and implementation of
tours and educational programs for diverse audiences and through the
research and writing of Gallery Guides, Teacher Resource Materials and other
materials for print and Web distribution.

The Delaware Art Museum is currently operating at the First USA Riverfront
Arts Center during the two-year restoration and expansion of its historic
1930s building on Kentmere Parkway. The Museum’s primary collection areas
are English Pre-Raphaelite Art, Howard Pyle and American Illustration, and
the John Sloan Trust. These collections are complemented by a comprehensive
survey collection of American Art including works by artists ranging from
Benjamin West to George Segal. Upcoming special exhibitions include Lure of
the West: Treasures from the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Romare
Bearden: Narrations. Interested applicants are invited to view the Museum’s
website at www.delart.org.

The position requires a Master’s Degree in Art History and exemplary written
and oral communication skills. Proven organizational skills and familiarity
with current computer technology is essential. Previous management
experience is highly desirable. Familiarity with museum operations is a
plus. The position offers a salary and benefits package in the low $30’s.

The Delaware Art Museum’s Docent Corps is a dedicated group of volunteers
whose service to the organization is invaluable. In an effort to provide a
minimum of disruption to the current training year, the Museum hopes to fill
this position as soon as possible. Applications will be accepted until the
position is filled. Please forward a letter of interest, C.V./resume and
name/address/phone/email of three references to: Marcia Cumiskey, Director
of Finance & Human Resources, Delaware Art Museum, 800 South Madison, Suite
B, Wilmington, DE 19801 or via email to [log in to unmask] No phone calls
