Let's return it to a professional list where we can exchange meaningful
conversation about our field. >

Some how I missed the first part of this thread, and as it is unimportant
who posted what I will continue with MY OPINION.

1st - to the author of the above - did no one help you when you started in
the field? was there no one there to offer you guidance eicouragement?

Those of us in school are there to learn, and we are in want of knowledge.
Not just the knowledge from "textbooks" but knowledge from people who are
WORKING. That is why we are part of the list.

2nd - why are you so threatened (or seem to be) by people asking how to
"break into the field"? - Sure there are not enough jobs to go around
perhaps, but there are many allied fields - direct us, show us, teach us,
YOU are the professional.

3rd - If you are tired of these posts, start your own - what is the TOP
issue you see as a problem in the field? What do you see is lacking in the
education of NEW graduates? What are the best or worse sources for
fundraising? How do you recruit new members?

I could go on. This is is for all 2000+ subscribers, if one person is
answering or questioning more than others, perhaps the OTHERS should get on
the ball!!!

PS before anyone get rankled by the above, I have 9 undergrad hours in
Museum Studies, and 12 grad hours in Public History/Museum Admin from Murray
State University. (Life happens!)
