I found that I disliked the daily digest format because it did arrive in one
big stream of messages. I prefer the individual messages because I can very
rapidly sort through those and keep or print the ones of interest and send the
others on to the circular Vahalla icon on the desktop.

That being said as my personal preference, I do not find the management of
this list "unprofessional" at all. I think that the Museum-L list moderators do
a very good job of striking a balance between the allowance of a very wide
range of opinions and topics and intervening only when the discourse gets
completely out of hand. And you may have noticed that in many ways this list is
self-policing, with members jumping in when improper discourse appears. You cannot
expect everything on a list as broad as Musuem-L to have everything that
interests you and nothing else - as you said, there are smaller and more
specialized lists that you can find to more specific topics.

I sense that you might have some measure of frustration with the subject
headings on the messages. This happens on every list I have ever been on since I
got online in 1992. The responsibility for that lies squarely wiith the
individual who posts or who replies to messages, and there is little that the
moderators of such a large list, like Musuem-L, can do about that.

My three cents...(two cents have become three cents in this economy!)

Cheers!
Dave
