In regards to your question about Plasti-dip:

I've been a contract Mountsmaker for many years and have used it with
general success several times. The problem I've encountered mostly is that
it takes a few coats to get a good measure of coating. When completly
cured the substance loses much of its thickness. I'd suggest, instead,
that you look into some of the nylon coated stainless lines available at
fishing stores and boating supply houses, then, using a length of thin rod
with the line attatched, pull the line through food-grade tubing to provide
a greater degree of cushion than the Plasti-dip would give.

This is also an altogether faster method of accomplishing the job. Stay
away from vinyl tubing! The food and medical grades are a different
chemical make-up and are generally quite safe.

Good luck on your project!
