an original Board of Trustees that included Alfred Barr, Joseph Hirshhorn,
Philip Johnson and Vera List, the Museum is one of the few non-collecting
contemporary art museums in the United States. Over the course of its
history, The Aldrich has become renowned as a national leader for its
presentation of outstanding new art, the cultivation of emerging artists and
its innovation in museum education. For further information about the
Museum, please visit www.aldrichart.org.

The successful applicant for the position of Deputy Director will possess
the skills necessary to work with the Director and Board of Trustees to lead
the museum to a position of local and regional importance and to broaden the

manager, with extensive museum credentials including fiscal management
skills, strong communications, marketing and community relations skills with
an emphasis and expertise in museum development and fundraising activities.

Major responsibilities include oversight of the day-to-day operations of the
Museum; developing a targeted fundraising program; working with the Director
on the Museum's strategic planning process; supporting the Director and
Board in the development of new initiatives to expand the reach and presence
of the Museum to other cities and sites in the State; assisting in the
development and administration of the Museum's annual budget; Supervising,
coordinating and facilitating the activities of all Senior Museum staff;
participating visibly in all community affairs and acting as chief
representative of the Museum in the absence of the Director. The Deputy
Director will play a leadership role in regional cultural activities along
with the Director and Board of Trustees.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum ten years museum or other
contemporary visual arts related experience in a similar leadership position
with demonstrated fundraising experience and management, planning,
leadership and organizational skills. MA is required. The ability to work
effectively with people and constituents at all levels and to represent the
