Dear Kimi-
I suggest you get in touch with the educator at the Anasazi Heritage Center in Dolores. Several years ago they did a video and teaching aid called "Mystery of the Cliffs". The heroes in the video were the Ninja Turtles, which might make it to dated, but it was an excellent
production. Also the Utah Interagency Task Force (BLM, NPS, USFS and State) put together a prehistory curriculum in 1990 called Intrigue of the Past: Investigating Archaeology, which is good. Both CO and UT have strong Prehistory Week programs. You also might contact the Colorado
State Archaeologist and/or Regional Archaeologist or Cultural Resource person(s) in Denver with the NPS or BLM. I think you will find a curriculum that is already out there for you which will cover all aspects of archaeology from excavation to rock art in an age appropriate format.
Those guys can probably give you ideas or leads for your "dig" program as well.

Check out these sites and see if you don't find something or someone who can keep you from reinventing the wheel.
