Freeze drying is the best way to prevent damage to wet books - air drying,
unless the books are just damp, will not prevent damage. Freeze the books ASAP
-- blast freezing is best. The quicker they are frozen the less damage will be
done. Contact a local taxidermist -- most of them have freeze dryers. You have
about 48 hours, give or take, depending on the temperature, before mold and
mildew will begin to appear. Good luck.
