I live in Milan and I have always worked in Cultural Communication and
Marketing.
I agree with you that blockbusters attract a great number of people,
even people who probably don't like art that much, or hardly know Picasso or
Monet.
But why do they go then? only because these are the only artists they can
understand
since they are famous and well-teached at school?
I think it's also a problem of marketing and communication: how (and of
course
with how much budget) you promote the event; what exhibition values you
promote
in your communication, large or small it doesn't matter; if you are able to
rise interest
also with small special activities.

If you need any new ideas on this subject, or confrontation to what we do in
Milan,
please let me know.
