The real heart of the list speaks again! Well put
Indigo! You have successfully outlined the true
points here. I will bang my fist to agree with the
"disguised flattery" point. Please understand, that
we would love to have a job like you have.

(Well in my case, I would love to have a job that
hasn't been created yet--if anyone knows anyone at the
new Museum of Industrial History or at the new
Heritage Harbor Museum in Providence, let them know I
am a wonderful person! HA!)

I further agree that the students here (me!) announce
our needs as a way of showing we are participating. I
do second the fact that it needs to be put in a form
more becoming to our ears. Not: "Got a job? I need
one!" But: "I hope that you can help me find a couple
of resources in the museum field that could lead me to
a job. I have a blah blah blah degree and would love
to work in blah blah blah..." Well you get the point.

I would also second the point that lurking and
examining the archives is an EXCELLENT way of doing
things. I keep a small archive of job postings and
when I see a trend pop up, I know where to send
resumes for jobs. If there have been several job
postings in Arizona, well I go for it. Thats kind of
why I am in Tennessee. I had seen enough posts about
preservation and museums in TN to realize it was
probably good to go there.

Thank you again Indigo. It was well put and worth a
lesson.

Aaron
