I disagree with David's analysis.

I just KNOW it's the result of the stream you started on ALHFAM-L re:
buffalo tongue recipes. Obviously, bits of the inedible outer layers of the
tongue are clogging up your computer and producing this result!!!

More seriously, David's perfectly right. You have probably noticed that you
don't have the problem with messages on ALHFAM-L and that is because their
list server systematically rejects HTML messages (which causes its own
frustrations when people get "illegal attachment" bounceback messages). The
ALHFAM list server interprets HTML code as an illegal attachment, rejects it
and sends an appropriate msg.

Moral of the story for anyone on any list - send everything as plain text
msgs with no attachments.
