POSITION:       Region Manager

DEPARTMENT:  Parks & Heritage Services 

SALARY:            $53,322 – 58,655, depending on relevant experience

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct comprehensive site maintenance and operations management functions 
within an assigned region.  Responsible for the maintenance and operations of 
assigned parks, historic sites, trails, and facilities within the region, provide 
direct supervision to Region Foremen for maintenance management programs 
and related activities.  Develop management plans for all sites within the 
region and monitors the implementation of those plans on an ongoing basis.  
Responsible for managing the day to day activities of the region, through 
activities such as: providing ongoing administration and management of the 
operating budget, conducting necessary research as part of the procurement 
of goods and services for the region, tracking progress of projects within the 
region being developed through the Capital Improvement and Open Space 
Program, developing and utilizing management tools to evaluate the 
effectiveness of maintenance and operations activities and programs. 
Responsible for coordinating special events in their region with appropriate 
Chiefs.  Responsible for the supervision of the administration of grants.  

 

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

·         Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Park Management, Natural Resource 
  Management, Public Administration, American History or related field.

·         Must have previous supervisory experience.

·         Knowledge of contractor related procedures and practices for grounds 
  maintenance, natural resource restoration, forestry and landscape 
  construction work.

·         Able to manage multiple projects, of varying scales, at any one time.

·         Must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines.

·         Understanding of Collections Management (Past Perfect), or equivalent.

·         Knowledge of historic preservation, AAM standards, preferred.

·         Must be able to establish and maintain professional working 
relationships.

·         Must have excellent inter-personal, oral and written communication 
  skills.

·         Must be a team-oriented individual.
