The ANSI/NISO standard, Z39.79-2001 Environmental Conditions for
Exhibiting Library and Archival Materials, might help, but it excludes
many museum objects. This link should take you to the full text PDF.
http://www.niso.org/standards/resources/Z39-79-2001.pdf

From the introduction:
1.1.1 Library and Archival Materials Included
This standard relates to individual bound volumes in various binding
styles and composed
of various materials, printed ephemera, flat paper, and vellum items
(manuscripts,
art on paper, etc.), and photographs.

My question is this: Does anyone know of a single document that gives
environmental recommendations or guidelines for exhibits? If so, where
can I get a copy? I'm not on the exhibits group from AAM so I don't
know if that group has prepared something or not.
